Hello, my name is Grace. I’m 22, and interested in archiving some of the beauty of the world. I studied Art History and French in college and now work as an art teacher and language tutor. I hail from Chicago, Illinois and currently live and work in the north suburbs, but come October 2011 I will be moving to Caen, in Normandy to teach English for an indefinite period of time. My long term goals are to stay in France and complete a Masters in Art History and Fine Art Conservationism.
Although I have no academic background in studio art, drawing and painting have been interests of mine since I was very young, and I enjoy drawing with pencil and ink, soft and oil pastels, colored pencils, and painting in acrylics. I have delved a bit into oil paint but have yet to develop a sense of comfort with it. My own art inspiration is found in what I see around me, as well as the eras and movements of my academic background, which are mainly art of the late 19th and early 20th century. I also admire Islamic ornamentation and architecture, Medieval art and architecture, interior design, graphic design and folk arts.
I started this blog as a sort of visual inspiration file and hope to expand it over time into a full art blog and personal portfolio. For more information about where I find my images, please see my links page. Please also visit my other blog at La Vie des Bricoles, as well as my Youtube account or my Facebook profile. That’s about it. Cheers.
